St. Joan of Arc Parish, the second largest parish in the Diocese of Columbus, seeks to start a Gregorian Schola to sing at occasional Masses and Vespers.

St. Joan of Arc is a huge Parish with 5 weekend Masses, expanding to 6 in October, and many musical groups that specialize in many styles. The previous director tried to begin a schola once or twice and didn't find a tremendous amount of volunteers for it, perhaps because the parish has never been exposed to Gregorian chant before. It is my hope that looking for volunteers from other parishes - who perhaps do not sing every week - will help bring an appreciation for chant to this Parish. St. Joan of Arc is very young, with over 1800 children in it's Catholic education program and over 1000 high school students just waiting to be exposed to chant, polyphony, etc... The building is not ideal for chant, but is not the worst building acoustically that I've been in. The Pastor is supportive of the idea of forming a Schola Cantorum (as well as supportive of the other musical groups at the Parish).
