I will be there. Perhaps we (other CMAA members) can get together to sing a chant or a piece of polyphony, and maybe even have a drink at some point! Let me know if you will be there.

Despite this being in my back yard, I have yet to register. I still wish to attend, but finances are very tight with me. We'll see. I will let you know ASAP.

I bring to your attention this article from our diocesan's newspaper regarding music that will be heard at the Conference.

Here is one of the pieces you will hear---David Kauffman's Mass of Renewal (this is the Gloria showing):

  • David Kauffman is going to be the guest speaker on liturgical music at our diocesan conference. However, my gut feeling is that he is probably going to focus only on his stuff than on what the Church actually teaches. The same thing happened with Peter Kolar last year.

On the other hand, there is a conference in Houston, Texas, next weekend, that should prove to be most enlightening. It is being sponsored by the Society for Catholic Liturgy:

Having dealt with the FDLC in the past, I am leery about the SWLC.

yes, i am leary too, but its my job to go. soooooo, while i am there i will try to meet david haas and a few other of our friends in Christ. influnce is a two way street!

perhaps there is something i can do to help the cause of sacred music in some small way. i suggest we all pray a rosary for this encounter.
  • Based on the roster for the Houston conference, at least I won't be running into David Haas; however, I look forward to meeting Fr. Uwe Michael Lang!!!!!!!!
