Hymn for Fourth Sunday of Advent

I decided to get a head start.
Advent 4 is tricky as a source for Hymn-text because the readings are so short and to the point.
I'm not 100% on this yet, but it's a start.
Verse 4 has issues, particularly line 1, which I think is a bit too Shakespearean. I'd be proud of writing it if this were an ode. As a hymn, it seems a little froo-froo.

I also feel like it needs a fifth verse. Maybe not.

    Anyway...

    --- --- ---

As high as Heav'n, or deep as Hell,
what grand design could rightly tell,
of God's great love and saving grace?
By what sign should we know His face?

The faithful do not seek such things,
The fervent heart, without, still sings.
But we, poor sinners, here below,
    Desire certain things to know.

Though wearisome our doubts may be,
Our God has sworn to set us free.
Though faithless have we often been,
Through faith our God destroys our sin.

What then, what sign, from that Great One?
More than a sign- His Saving Son,
Whom angels sing and prophets tell,
    The Virgin's child, Emmanuel.
