(Extraordinary Form Post • Can we start putting "EFP" or "OFP" ?)

Why are the Propers for the First Sunday after Pentecost included in the Liber Usualis, when this feast is always replaced by Trinity Sunday?

My understanding is that the Mass for the 1st Sunday after Pentecost could be used during the week, if there is a ferial day, i.e. no obligatory feast day.

    Anyone have any other ideas?
  • I think the correct answer to this trick question is that they are not included in the Liber Usualis. Are you thinking of the Graduale? And yes, they are there because they are sung on ferias after Trinity Sunday in the Extraordinary Form. (And while were at it, shouldn't we call EF sung Masses the "Super Extraordinary Form" -"SEF"?)

Arthur: thank you for catching my error. I meant to say "Graduale" instead of "Liber Usualis." (this was not meant as a "trick" question, btw)
