Apparently the man just passed away. Since he's one of the few living sacred music classical composers who was known in the mainstream, I guess this is a news item.

His 3rd symphony and his Miserere are exquisite, though I've always preferred Arvo Pärt. I will mourn his passing. May the angels lead him to paradise.

His string quartets are amazing, too. Definitely worth a purchase.
