Yes: extremely useful pieces! Also check out the chant-based works of Gerald Near. The chant settings of Jeanne Demessieux are quite approachable as well.
I think, as DBP mentions, that Near's pieces are very nice and tasteful. His Adoro te variations are really wonderful, while being pretty easy to play.
