Nah, Kathy, the elderly want things "the way they used to be"...you know, in the 70s. It all looks lovely, appropriate, and doable. Any special reason for Byrd in 3 though?
What bliss. Did the couple make requests or let the choir director and organist decide, or both? I'd guess the bride or groom or both were singers?
Nice to see propers listed alongside other great pieces. Fantastic line-up.
Oh yeah, I actually like the Byrd Masses in inverse proportion to their number of voices. It just looked like it was a 4-part choir, so I was a little surprised that a 4-part mass wasn't done, hence the question.
Also as far as the Three Voice Mass, it was just the Mass chosen - there were actually 7 paid voices in the choir (the Halley piece during Communion has 7 part harmony).
That Halley is gorgeous: my choir sings it, and it's one of my all-time favorite English language things. Tough tuning in the a cappella section, but it's worth it!
