I've misplaced the link and the message, but....

It's poor music, Adam. It is simple (which is good) but entirely predictable, which is why it is easy to sing for people. It it strictly in major tonality, with no excursions.

Why is this poor music? Because it does not challenge the ear in any way. Entirely memorable and entirely forgettable at the same time. At its best it is mediocre. And, though it is easily learned, people will become quickly bored with it.

At this point in your life you are attracted to it. Happens to me, too. Something catches the ear, something that would be easy for people to sing and the light goes on! That's something we can teach people to sing at Mass!

But due to its construction, it goes nowhere and before you know it, you are tired of it even before the people really, really know it. The musicians at Mass revolt and insist on something new to sing and play. The people haven't learned the catchy ditty and it is gone.

Sons of God, hear His Holy Name, Gather round the table of the Lord, Eat His body, drink His blood and we'll sing a song of love, Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu---------ia!

This is what happens if you do really, really teach them and then repeat a song over and over again for a couple of years. People will remember it forever.
