    Saturday was the first Feast of Bd John Henry Newman, Confessor - our recently acquired patron saint at the Latin Mass Community, Caulfield, Melbourne, Vic. Unfortunately only 3 of us were available to sing. So for the after-Offertorio I metricized the Vespers hymn "Iste Confessor", here (mp3) (PDF) attached in its yawning, early morning, flatness and rawness. I know it's a hymn and the theme here is 'no hymns at mass' - rightly - but it's a great hymn and it fits in with the feast, so I'm not apologising - much!

    Great job. And, since you had completed the Offertorio and had time....why not? Very, very nice setting and well sung.

    Hymns are useful when they emphasize the texts of the day and you've proved it!
