Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Holmen, Wisconsin, is seeking a full-time Director of Music. Saint Elizabeth’s is a parish of 900 families (with 500 children in Religious Education) located 12 miles north of the See city in the Diocese of La Crosse. Founded in 1983 (church built in 1985), SEAS is a young and growing parish.
Saint Elizabeth’s seeks to respond to the lead of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI in his direction regarding the restoration of the liturgy. The prospective candidate must possess knowledge of the great liturgical tradition of our Church, and should be versed in the Church’s liturgical and musical documents such as Sacrosanctum Concilium and Musicam Sacram. The candidate should be able to work fruitfully with the pastor (currently a graduate student at the Liturgical Institute, Mundelein) and other parish staff in enriching the people’s understanding and participation in the Church’s rich musical patrimony. Proficiency in organ, piano, and conducting is required.
The Director will be responsible for developing more fully the parish’s Sacred Music program. He/She will direct the adult choir and oversee the development of other adult, youth and children’s groups.
First and foremost the successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic with an evident life of faith and a reverential approach to liturgy. Collaboration, professionalism, and flexibility, are other necessary personal qualities.
