St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, Texas seeks a full-time Director of Music and Youth Ministry to work closely with the Pastor, a former Anglican Church musician and cathedral organ scholar (MA, ARCO), to implement a renewal of Liturgical Music in a creative and innovative way. The Pastor envisions that a traditional choral program (boys, girls, middle school, high school choirs pursuing excellence in the study of Gregorian Chant, Polyphony and the best of the Catholic musical tradition) could form the primary basis of a successful youth ministry, supplemented by the usual social events, service projects, etc. Three weekend masses plus weddings and funerals. Historic 1918 Neo-romanesque church with superb acoustics; newly restored c. 1900 English pipe organ, ii/11. Lindsay is one hour north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, 30 minutes north of Denton. Requirements: complete fidelity to the Catholic Faith, desire to foster growth in holiness and transmission of the Faith through sacred music, appropriate understanding of liturgical music, patient teacher, hard worker with interpersonal skills to bring this vision to fruition.
