    Hello,

As I grow older I find myself more and more wanting to play organ music that is chant based. Do any of the rest of you feel this way?

Right now I'm working up Gerald Near's setting of Ubi Caritas.

    Robsc,

I feel the same way. I've been playing a lot of Benoit and Peeters lately, especially for daily Mass. I love the Near-the whole St. Augustine Organ Book is a little gem. I need to buy his Chantworks series. I've also been playing from Jeanne Demessieux's 12 choral preludes based on chant hymn tunes. Great stuff!

I think Gerald Near is very good. In addition to Chant Works there is his Liturgical Year Volume 1, a sort of Orgelbuchlein based on Chant. The first volume goes from Advent to the beginning of Lent. I hope he someday completes the project.

For something simpler, Callahan has a two volume series called, Chant, published by Concordia(I think). The pieces are fairly easy and keep them in the organ bench just in case I need extra music.
