A Catholic parish's choir director has been accused of dipping into the parish safe, and police claim she confessed. Her alleged explanation was that she needed the $28,000 for "a relative in financial trouble".
When they went over the books, they found another $32,000 missing, but the choir director isn't accused of that one. I guess their money handling must be pretty lax.
(I know that stealing from parish funds happens, but it usually is folks on the administrative and financial side of the parish who steal/embezzle. That's why I posted this as news.)
