Gospel Alleluia

    In some parts of the world, it appears that in the Novus Ordo Mass that the Alleluia is sung, but the verse is omitted.

    The GIRM: "c. The Alleluia or verse before the Gospel may be omitted if they are not sung."

    Is there an clear instruction on this for the US church? I anticipate a situation where I need to know this.

    This is the practice at daily Mass at my parish. I don't see any problem with singing the Alleluia alone, where both the Alleluia and verse would otherwise be omitted.
