Look what Eric Whitacre has done. Individual singers followed a conducting video he placed on YouTube, and performed Lux Aurumque, following his rubato, dynamics, phrasing, everything. They posted their individual contributions on YouTube, identifying their voice part in the title. Then, the videos were spliced together to make a virtual choir performance, with the singer's "faces" arranged in choir formation.
I find it oddly moving.
