Just wanted to share good news as well as do a bit of advertising.... Last spring several of us here at the parish formed a small chant schola and began meeting weekly. On November 2 we offered music for the first time at Mass, singing the proper Requiem chants. Then, just last Tuesday we sang our second Mass, singing the Epiphany propers at a well-attended evening Mass. The chants were received well on both occasions. We are moving forward, currently working on the propers for the Presentation of the Lord for Mass February 2, then likely on to several other sets of propers in the spring.
If you are in the Raleigh, North Carolina area (we are in north Raleigh, specifically) and looking for an outlet to sing and learn chant, you are welcome to join us. Send an email to stlukechant@googlegroups.com for more info. All of our members are novices, so we continually review the basics. I have received instruction from several sources, most importantly via CMAA and Scott Turkington, and our approach is very much in the same spirit.
