Have two weddings next Saturday. Normally play 15 minutes worth of prelude music and a postlude in addition to entrance/recessional march. I was wondering if I should omit the prelude/postlude music during Advent?

    Not necessary, I believe.

My understanding is that there used to be a prohibition of instrumental music other than to support the singing during Mass in Advent, (as in Lent,) but that such a flat prohibition no longer exists for this season. (Lenten and funeral prohibition still in force, according, IIRC, to the Ceremonial of Bishops.)

I wouldn't sweat this one. Maybe you can sneak in something vaguely "adventish" for your own pleasure and the edification of the few who might be listening.

I never use preludes or postludes during Advent or Lent except Advent III and Lent IV.
