    Full-time assistant director of music for nationally recognized Roman Catholic basilica and place of pilgrimage.
    The assistant director will work closely with the director of music in sustaining and augmenting a department dedicated to providing excellence in sacred music in and outside the context of liturgy.
    Primary responsibilities include serving as organist for weekday and Sunday liturgies, a number of which are televised internationally; serving as accompanist for the resident 20-voice professional choir; and assisting in the administrative needs of the department of music as they relate to visiting choirs, concerts, visiting musicians, personnel, and liturgy.
    The depth and breadth of the position may vary depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The assistant director of music will work cooperatively with the liturgy and pilgrimage departments, full-time administrative assistant, associate director of music, and director of music.
    The successful candidate will be a highly talented organist and will demonstrate skill and creativity in the areas of accompanying, service playing, and improvisation. The successful candidate will be detail and service oriented; a collaborator; and will strive for excellence in all aspects of the position. Thorough familiarity with the Roman Rite is essential.
    Instruments include: four-manual, 119-rank Moeller (1964); three-manual, 48-rank Moeller (1964); two-manual 25-rank Schudi (1987). Competitive salary and full benefits. Additional stipends available for extra events such as pilgrimages and ordinations.

    The AGO has determined, upon investigation, that the employer, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC, was not at fault regarding the termination of the employee. Therefore, the case has been closed without a finding of wrongful termination.
