Chant Workshop - Gloriae Dei Cantores - Phoenix, AZ
  • There will be a Gregorian chant workshop led by the Gloriae Dei Cantores Schola at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Phoenix (stjoanofarc.com) on Saturday, October 24th from 9:00AM to 12:00 noon. The cost is $10 and there will be breakout sessions for Beginner, Advanced and Clergy.

    Topics covered in the Beginner session include: What is Gregorian chant? Chanting with your true voice. History of chant. How to read Gregorian notation. Modes.

    Topics covered in Advanced session include: Chironomy: Conducting chant. Gregorian Semiology.

    Topics covered in Clergy session include: Chant for Priest and Deacon.

    Gloriae Dei Cantores is a professional choir that regularly sings in the daily prayer of the "Community of Jesus" in Orleans, Massachusetts, which operates Paraclete Press. The Gloriae Dei Schola has studied with the late, great Mary Berry, chant specialist and life-long advocate. The schola's teaching methods, led by Dr. Jim Jordan, are accessible to beginner and professional alike.
