American Gradual: Gloria Patri tones
  • Bruce

Thanks for your magnificent American Gradual. What a gift to the Church. As someone on one of the other chains has said it will indeed be a book of the century.

As mentioned on another chain, could you post the Gloria Patri tone for your American Gradual in pdf format (for some reason, the word version just can't be read in my standard word program).

    Many thanks and God Bless

  • Here is the Gloria Patri set to the eight "introit" psalm in .pdf.

Posting them in MSWord format was a stupid mistake.

    Hi Bruce and all,

Could you kindly remind me *when* during the Communion chant ought one sing the Gloria Patri? Would it be…

    Antiphon -- verse1 -- antiphon -- verse2 -- antiphon -- verse3 -- antiphon (etc) -- last verse -- Gloria Patri -- antiphon?

Also, would the Gloria Patri be omitted during Advent and/or Lent?

    Thanks!
  • 1. Yes, the pattern you outline is correct.
    2. Current rubrics do not call for omission of the Gloria Patri during Advent and Lent. Before the 1970 reform the Gloria Patri was omitted from Lent V ("Passion Sunday," as it was then called) until Easter.
