We're hosting a Sanctity of Life Mass for the Order of Malta in a couple months. I'd love to play the Order's anthem, "Ave Crux Alba," as a postlude. Does anyone have access to a copy of this piece? Does anyone know of any other music written by or special to the Order? Thank you, all!
Well you should really ask them. I know that we do the Inviolata instead of the seasonal Marian antiphon as apparently that was customarily sung at the end of the high Mass.
I'm pretty good at googling, but couldn't find sheet music.
However, it's not liturgical music, it's their state anthem. It would be kind of like playing the Star Spangled Banner as a postlude, which would traditionally require everyone to stand at attention.
