The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist seeks professional, highly skilled Soprano 1 & Bass 1 Section Leaders to join our music program. Music is a cornerstone of the Cathedral’s liturgical life; the Section Leader provides vocal leadership for the semi-professional Cathedral Choir and performs as a member of the fully professional Choral Scholars under the direction of Dr. Paul Thornock.

Rehearsals: Attend weekly rehearsals held every Wednesday evening. Concert Series: Participate in the Friends of Cathedral Music concert series.
◾️Qualifications Excellent Musicianship: A professional-level vocal technique suitable for a cathedral setting, ranging from early music to contemporary compositions. Independence: The ability to prepare and sing difficult passages independently within a small professional schola or large choir. Commitment: Availability for the duration of the entire season.
◾️Compensation & Benefits Competitive Pay: This position offers the highest compensation in Savannah for choral section leader roles. Professional Growth: Opportunity to work with a high-caliber staff of musicians and perform in one of the most acoustically and aesthetically stunning venues in the Southeast. Additional Income: Concert performances through the Friends of Cathedral Music are separately compensated as well as calls for cantoring.
◾️How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and/or audio recordings of recent performances to: Dr. Paul Thornock, Director of Music, music@savannahcathedral.org
I will also add personally, there is need for school music teachers in town, as well as a need for private teachers of voice, piano, and other instruments. Creating a full teaching schedule around one's own preferences in addition to this well-paid position would not be difficult.
