Alt. Jesus Christ Is Risen Today
  • Does anyone know where I might find sheet music for a particular version of Jesus Christ Is Risen Today? I've included an mp3 recording, and the following link both discusses it and has an associated midi file: https://www.chantcd.com/lyrics/jesus_christ_risen_today.htm

It's a version set to one of the most popular Sancti Venite melodies. The link claims it's in the old SSPX Hymnal, but I've only ever seen the popular version included in The Traditional Roman Hymnal.

  • I can make you one, would you like?

  • That would be most appreciated! I hate to impose, so please take your time doing it. I don't have an immediate need.
  • Could this be what you are seeking? From the St. Gregory.
This uses G. Woodward's translation, and there is an error in stanza 2, "knapt", not kept.

    Rob,
Aha! I remember that from the first choir in which I sang.

It's extremely close! Not the same words and the music is slighty different, though. "Christ The Lord Hath Risen" appears to be a little more complex than the version I'm looking for, but I love what you've provided and would really like to sing it as well. I'm uploading the version of Sancti Venite which mirrors what I'm looking for. Hopefully it will be of help as a musical comparison. I believe the melody was originally written for "Christ Ist Erstanden." The lyrics are at the chantcd link I posted earlier. Thank you again for the Hymn you've provided. Another gem I plan to use!
