I now have two children's choirs - one for the parish and one at the adjoining school. The Parish choir is bigger, though a majority of the singers are also in the school choir. We just returned to the Pueri Cantores Federation after a 5 year hiatus which was the result of the Pandemic. There is an upcoming International Congress convening in Rome for just under a week, scheduled at the end of 2028 into 2029, and this would be the first time my parish/school has even considered planning a trip abroad of this size and cost.
Does anyone in this forum have experience with planning, organizing and fundraising such trips to Rome, which can be costly. Pueri Cantores works with a travel agency that provides accommodations and some amenities such as included breakfasts, luncheons, tours and hotels. They require 40 participants (singers, parents and chaperones included) to make such accommodations through their service.
We're also considering alternate planning options in case we end up having a group smaller than 40.
Hi. I have not done this in the past thought I was part of a group that went in 2007 for the Consistory for new cardinals. I am considering taking my choir, though. I hadn't been able to talk to the travel agency yet - they usually call when I'm in rehearsal or Mass - didn't know about the 40 person minimum though I think we could hit that pretty easily.
What kind of alternatives are you looking at? I do think it's an incredible opportunity.
