Use of (Roman) Tonus In Directum with English

    You would think it simple, and for the mediation it is. Ironically, the super simple ending is giving me trouble.
    In Latin you simply drop Do to La after the final accented syllable. English however, is full of monosyllables and accented final syllables, and I can't decide what to do/have confused myself. What do yall think of the following solution (the slash is where you depart DO)

    Strong/Weak. (same structure as Latin no problem)
    Strong/WeakWeak. (same structure as Latin no problem)
    WeakStrong/Weak. (same structure as Latin no problem)
    Mono / Mono.
    Strong/Weak Mono.
    WeakStrong / Mono.

    Or just use the Monastic tone, which is recto tono for the second half?

    Edit- one problem is something like, Mono Mono Mono where the words themselves have shades of strength in relation to each other from the sentence/phrase, not intrinsic to the words themselves.

    You can adjust the tone per the decree on monosyllables and Hebrew words, although in Latin, I follow the Solesmes way which is to never adjust, so the monastic tone is maybe better for English.

    is this the Do La Ti alternative ending? I would rather not do that.

    It’s in the Toni communes which gives a bunch of examples of such words, and yeah, I don’t like it.

    I think that looks fine. I don’t have the Toni communes in front of me to compare the ad lib examples of Hebrew and monosyllabic words. P.S. there are a few places where the mediant could go either way (the Solesmes custom gives an extra syllable versus the Vaticana, but that all looks more or less right to me.
