Greetings all—
While this premiered last year at one of our ordinations, I've finally gotten around to officially releasing my new, easy anthem, More love to Thee, O Christ!. It is SATB+Organ, however vs. 1,2, & 4 are all in unison, so it is very quick and easy to learn. (I wrote it with a pickup diocesan choir in mind; we needed something lovely, yet easy and quick to learn, and this fit the bill.)

The text is a wonderful prayer, and appropriate for any time of year:

More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee.
This is my earnest plea: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek, give what is best.
This all my prayer shall be: More love, O Christ to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Let sorrow do its work, send grief or pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers, sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Then shall my latest breath whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry my heart shall raise;
This still [my] prayer shall be: More love, O Christ to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Elizabeth Prentiss wrote this after the loss of a child, which makes the prayer that much more impressive. In the midst of trail, her response was that of Job: deep faith and trust in God. Deo Gratias!

Verse 3 is treated SATB, and I have A/T/B practice tracks available to help choirs learn this section.

I'm pleased to report that the diocesan and parish choirs have fallen in love with this, (simple though it may be) as well as a few other parishes who were seeded pre-release copies. Hopefully your choir(s) might come to love it too.
