I just learned that celebrated composer/arranger Hal Hopson passed away yesterday. I would venture to say most of us here have probably done at least one of his compositions or arrangements at some point in our careers. May he rest in peace.
  • Paul Salamunovich presented several of his arrangements for an Archdiocesan Choir event, back in the 80s. Portland, in Oregon.

His Gift of Love has been a perennial favorite of our family, sung at many weddings and other special occasions. His one and two part arrangements of tunes from the classical repertoire for church choir still work wonderfully, I’ve used them with children and adults.
I just played my postlude from his big organ book yesterday.
