Hello, I am trying to find a sung/chanted responsorial psalm for weekday masses, in particular Psalm 116 “To you, Lord, I will offer a sacrifice of praise.”
I might just use a Meinrad tone and chant it. I attached one way that may be done. EDIT: I am having trouble getting my attachment to post, which might be because I'm on my work computer (???) If you send me a PM with your email address, I'll sent it to you.
I'm not often called on to chant a vernacular responsorial psalm, so when I am I take the time to put it in an appropriate traditional psalm tone, usually by finding and matching the antiphon from Fr. Weber or another simplified source. Imho these tones are so perfect that even with the slight awkwardness caused by the translation they noticeably elevate the liturgy of the word.
Edit: If I were doing this frequently I would look for a streamlined method, but I'm not aware of a source that directly offers this for the responsory and alleluia.
The best thing would be to copy and paste into the psalm-tone tool made by Ben Bloomfield. Most (I won’t say all) don’t need to be retyped as it’s easy to just use the one for the Mass of the day available on the USCCB site.
