I was wondering if anyone is using a Windows tablet for playing sheet music on the organ, and if so what software they are using. I have several Dell XPS 18 inch tablets which I have been using for some time at home and at church both running the free enScore reader. They have been very good for displaying 2 pages, but a bit compressed. I am thinking of upgrading to a HP 24 inch Envy Move as prices come down, especially on used/refurbished ones. The larger size will be great for reading two pages of music at real sheet paper size. I am also willing to try different software, so I would like to know what others are using and how satisfied they are. I would also like to know what page turning method they use.
I use MobileSheets on my Dell 2-in-1, and am mostly very happy with it. There are numerous options for page turns, including facial gestures - I use mouth to left or right. Sometimes I have trouble with the page turns, but that usually seems attributable to poor lighting, lower quality webcam and an underpowered machine.
I totally suscribe @GerardH's comment. I have been using it without complaints for 7 years already and it is worth every penny (pay once, no subscription). Best option for Windows in my opinion, plus, they upgrade it constantly.
Thank YOU, GerhardH and Verbum-Gloriae. For the price I will certainly try it out. You both mention satisfaction. How stable is it? With enScore I have encountered crashes but only at home when going through many partitions trying to select the music pieces to play the following Sunday. It has never happened in a live performance, but the uncomfortable thought of it has been in the back of my mind. I do not think enScore has been updated for quite some time. Does one need an Internet connection to run or install it?
The price is reasonable, and I believe there is a one-week free trial. I haven't had it crash on me yet, but VG may have had a different experience. I think that's just the risk of playing from an electronic device - sometimes sheet music blows off the stand, and that is a risk of physical scores. You'll need internet to install and purchase, but thereafter it can run off-line. Your library can also be synchronised between devices (but I only have one device, so I haven't tested it).
I bought it at their website. This way I was able to install it without an Internet connection, and have it and the licencing key on my thumbdrive. It will take a bit of getting used to because it works so differently from enScore. I do not know how the page turning can possibly work on a tablet which rests on the organ music stand which is on an angle, so the camera only gets the top of my head. I will need a separate webcam I guess.
As I mentioned, no complaints, and suscribing @GerardH experience once more, it has never crashed on me, neither at home nor live. For the page turns I have acostumed myself in using my finger (touchscreen laptop convertible into tablet) for the facial gestures consume too much battery and since I also sing while I play the organ, I do too many facial gestures turning out in wrong page turns. It is not the quickest thing, but it is safer and quicker than manually turning a physical sheet. On the other hand, neither have I used the library synchronization for I also have only one device. The program has so many options and customizations that I have not even tried yet...
