Tristitia et Anxietas by Byrd

Hi all,
has anybody sung Tristitia et anxietas by Byrd? I would love to do so, but the ambitus of the voices are insane, very difficult for a modern mixed choir. I wondered whether one could make the medius voice more into an alto voice by same voice swapping - has anybody experience with that and with performing the piece?

As written, the piece is voiced for ATTBB. I would suggest transposing it up a minor third or perfect fourth, for SAATB voices.
