Help Finding a Spanish/English Pew Missal

    We are looking for a Spanish/English pew missal for our parish, ideally a permanent one. We bought a sample from ILP (Word and Eucharist/Palabra y Eucharistica) and the pastor wasn't particularly thrilled. Our ideal resource would primarily be a pew lectionary and not include a hymnal, because we intend to stick to the online Source and Summit platform for that purpose. So, for those of you who have Spanish/English pew missals, what can you recommend?

    My parish uses the GIA Celebremos/Let us celebrate. It has english on one side and spanish on the other. It gets sent 3 times a year and we throw out the old edition. I am not the biggest fan of throw away missals. I would love to move to a permanent edition. From what I have found, the ILP is the only other pew lectionary that has both English and Spanish. I would love to actually move to use the ILP Word and Eucharist/Palabra y Eucharistica.

    My assumption is that some other publishers might be waiting for a the new Spanish lectionary to come out that will have the updated text for the Spanish readings and Psalms.

    Well I’ve complained elsewhere here that ILP is still giving people new copies of hymnals with the old benediction rite and rather senselessly arranged; I’ve never seen a Catholic book with the text of Benediction not included at the end, or at least in the last place before indices, which even OCP can manage, but text and music only somewhere in the middle, with both the familiar English translations of the hymns and the 1960s ones, but not the new ICEL one. I can kind of understand placing all melodies for the hymns (the O Salutaris and Tantum ergo) together. But I don’t understand privileging one (let’s say WERNER and ST THOMAS with the Latin and classic English translations), then putting alternate melodies and a different translation in a different place. But not the Latin with the chant and the same English translation. (Which, one might say, ought to be the ICEL; I’m agnostic on this.)

    I think that this was the hymnal, not Word and Eucharist/Palabra y Eucharistica. But still, it’s annoying.

    Maybe use the Source & Summit Missal for English Masses and simply print a weekly worship aid which includes the readings and propers for the Spanish Masses..? I think you’re going to have a tough time finding a quality bilingual pew missal.

    I wouldn’t consider a permanent resource right now with a new (English) translation looming.

    Hi!

    Two ideas come to mind - the Unidos en Cristo bilingual Missal (3 times a year I think) from OCP, or Sanctus (once a year) from GIA. Unfortunately, neither is permanent.

    However, neither include music, so on that front, it matches your needs.

    I know folks here aren't always thrilled with these two companies, but I wanted to chime in - hope it helps!
