St Joseph Parish in Farmington Maine and nearby St Rose Parish in Jay Maine are seeking a qualified, capable, and joyful Coordinator of Liturgical Music. This person would collaborate with the pastor and other parish staff to implement pastoral plan priorities and goals. The full time staff person (25 hours approx. per week) serves the parish by developing full, active, and conscious participation in liturgies and devotions in accord with the traditions and customs of the Roman Catholic Church. The current parish goal is to integrate liturgical and devotional music in parish life. Presently, we are looking to interview candidates who will help optimize the use of two newly installed pipe organs. A successful candidate will have the ability to develop the capacity of parishioners, parish choirs, especially developing a seasonal children's choir, as well as cantor training.

Duties will include being the principal organist for the Saturday 4pm mass at St Rose, and the Sunday 10:30 am and 5pm masses at St Joseph. The Sunday 8:30 am mass is covered by a schola led by the artist in residence, a cathedral level organist and choir director. This mass is primarily Latin chant, along with sacred polyphony. This gentleman would be a resource to help the new Coordinator, offering mentorship as needed.

The parishes just made the switch to Source and Summit. Quality music is a top priority.

The candidate would be given right of first refusal for all funerals (50 plus a year) and weddings.

Farmington is a small college town, in the Western Maine Mountains. It has a small but active arts community, and opportunities for outdoor recreation abound. It is close to several world class ski areas for winter recreation.

To submit a letter of interest and resume, as well as to request a formal job description, please contact Louise at the parish office by calling (207)897-2173 or emailing louise.st.pierre@portlanddiocese.org

One side note, the parish is also hiring a Parish Social Ministry Director, a full time 40 hour position. This could be an ideal situation for the spouse of the Liturgical Music Coordinator. FMI, contact the parish.
