I cannot say enough good things about this parish and school here just outside of Portland OR. I am leaving only due to bad luck in immigration (I'm Canadian, and there is a massive backlog in permanent residency applications in my category. Very frustrating. We explored all options.) There are no bad feelings whatsoever as I leave, only sadness from my friends, colleagues, and students.
I'd like to commend the excellent working environment with a rock-solid and reliable principal and pastor. It's a very healthy parish and we have had great success in slowly building a truly Catholic music program in parish and school. The parish has learned to expect plenty of chant, Latin, choral pieces, and solid hymns in a very reverently celebrated Mass.
I want to hand it on to a capable and personable director who can continue the good work begun. Please consider it especially if you or someone you know is a great choral director and has experience with children; I'm not a fantastic organist, so if you are good on the organ, that will be a plus! However, what we really need is an experienced director.
