Listened to the Duruflé Requiem for the first time. I get why it's so beloved now
  • Some observations:
    1. You could probably teach three levels of undergraduate conducting using just this work alone, it changes meter every other measure
    2. The organ part gives me the agita
    3. Local choir here is performing it in March, will try to go
    4. Was probably inspired in some parts by Fauré, namely the 16th note + 2 half note "hosanna" like in Faure's Sanctus
    5. Ending is GORGEOUS
