Does anyone happen to have the sheet music for this piece? I ordered it in October, but it hasn't shipped yet. I can do other music for Christmas but I really love this motet.
I'm shocked I cannot find it anywhere online, since it's squarely in the public domain. I cannot even find the manuscript. It always amazes me when certain well-known composers are completely hidden away like this, when all their works should be on IMSLP.
It’s so loud and percussive. You do you, but if this was my parish, I’d be sending an email to the pastor requesting something more conducive to prayer and recollection and less distracting with all the percussion and banging. Maybe something like Victoria’s O Magnum Mysterium. Our Lord was born in the quiet of the night, not the loud banging of the pots and pans. There’s a time and a place for such music, and it isn’t Mass.
Chesnokov's "Salvation is Created" -- sung by the now disbanded Phipps Festival Chorus, as recorded in concert 10 years ago. I was basically reduced to tears of joy and gratefulness after singing 2nd Bass in this performance.
In Latin: Tecum Principium (José Maurício Nunes Garcia) available at CPDL, one can omit the flute and 2 trumpets and just used the string ensemble accompaniment.
