Gospel Acclamation for OT

    Hello, all!
    While I’ve been reading this forum for years, this is my first time posting. Before I ask my question, I first want to thank you all for your generosity in sharing your wealth of knowledge! What an incredible blessing this group is to so many!
    Now for my question… I’m looking for a Gospel Acclamation for our school Mass during OT. The music teacher who will be prepping our kids would like to use the Celtic Alleluia. I’m hoping to offer her an alternative…. Something closer to chant (less accompaniment and certainly not the driving rhythm), but with harmonies. Does anyone have anything they love that might fit the bill? Any thoughts are appreciated!

    I like the James Gerrish version in all the WLP hymnals. Chant Mode VI is always a great option as well.

    I've been under the impression, for some reason, that this was mode 1. It makes a quite nice exercise in organum.

    Hey thanks to you all. That's a very welcome variation to the Acclamations and psalm tone models by Heinrich Rohr which are in constant use in Germany for 50 years now.

    Here's a setting for Sundays of winter Ordinary Time, Year C.

    The Alleluia, from the Graduale Simplex (p.168), isn't harmonized — I was the organist, so I just did it on the fly — but the verse-tone is. You can substitute whatever verse texts you need for the school Masses.

    Robert Twynham wrote a few different Alleluias that are chant-like and simple for Ordinary Time. WLP originally published them, and now they’re part of GIA.

    Joseph Gelineau also has a chant-like Alleluia that several have adapted.

    I basically had just started using what Peter Latona was doing including:
    - Mode VI
    - Murray
    - His own in Gm for OT
    - Mawby (Advent)
    - Galineau (with an amazing descant of his own!)
