The USCCB approved NAB-RE for liturgical use this week, and it now heads to Rome for confirmatio.

This becomes the source for the revision of the 1998 edition of the US's Lectionary.

I prefer the RSV or the Revised English Bible (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revised_English_Bible ) - the latter is by far the most arresting of modern English translations I've encountered, and the version that includes the Apocrypha is approved by the Catholic bishops of England & Wales, Scotland, and Ireland (as they were co-sponsors of this joint Oxford & Cambridge project, though the publishers did not choose to include their imprimatur).

The ESV "created by a team of more than 100 leading evangelical scholars and pastors" was decided upon for Mass by the Catholic bishops of England&Wales six years ago, and the new lectionary will be introduced on the first Sunday of Advent, here and in Scotland. Except for the Responsorial Psalms which will be the Abbey Psalms. I believe the protracted delay was to revise it for Catholic use.
At least we will get back into the KJV tradition and away from the JB clunkiness.
See, the days are coming - it is the Lord who speaks - when I am going to fulfil the promise ...
Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfil the promise ...
  • Did they say anything about possibilities of when it will be printed? I know for the LOH they were hoping for 2025... lets see if that actually happens.
