St. Jude Parish in Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Director of Music. The Director of Music is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, and volunteer musicians to plan and execute parish liturgies and music. The Director develops and directs musicians to provide leadership on Sundays and other special liturgies that will lead parishioners to full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations.
Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and must possess a strong commitment to the Catholic faith. Candidate must possess a working knowledge of the Roman Missal/Order of the Mass and possess the technical and leadership capabilities necessary to develop and implement a comprehensive music program for the parish. Candidate must also demonstrate pastoral, musical, liturgical, and organizational skills, as outlined in the Qualifications for the Director of Music Ministries Policy Statement (National Association of Pastoral Musicians, Director of Music Ministries Division).
Bachelor Degree in Liturgy or Music is preferred; demonstrated proficiency in chorale direction, instrumental (including piano and organ), and vocal preferred. Practical experience of 5+ years in a pastoral setting preferred.
