Sacred Heart Church in Camp Washington, Cincinnati, served by the Fathers of the Cincinnati Oratory, is in search of at least a tenor and either soprano or alto section leader for the coming season, for an 11am Mass in Latin featuring chant Propers and ordinaries and desiring to expand into polyphonic repertoire.
The commitment is for masses on Sunday mornings (no pre-Mass warm-up), Wednesday evening rehearsals from about 645 to 815pm, and Masses on Christmas day, New Year’s Day, as well as potentially the feast of the Sacred Heart, beginning ideally in October and going through June.
Pay is competitive within in the local market.
Although I do not personally direct this choir, I am handling the hiring and audition process on behalf of the part-time director, Mr John Schauble.

Applicants should be comfortable, or willing to be comfortable, reading plainchant notation, have good reading skills, and the ability to sing confidently one-to-a-part, and be able to sing with a pure and beautiful tone throughout the range. These skills will be established by a short audition.
A practicing Catholic would be ideal, but anyone willing to comport themselves appropriately and respectfully for Catholic liturgy in the presence of volunteer singers, is welcome to apply. The usual Archdiocesan background check and safe environment regulations apply.
