Assistant Professor of Musicology

The University of Notre Dame seeks Assistant Professor to teach in the Music Department and in the graduate-level Program in Sacred Music, beginning August 2025. We are looking for an accomplished researcher of exceptional promise. The successful candidate will specialize in one or more areas of sacred music between 1500 and 1750, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and a commitment to diversifying curricular offerings and programs in a liberal arts context. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with broad interests, including music from Latin America and other non-European contexts.

The appointee will be expected to maintain an active research and publication record and teach a range of courses, including core classes, introductory and writing-intensive courses for non-majors, advanced electives for music majors and Master of Sacred Music students, and seminars for DMA students. Duties will include teaching two classes per semester, serving on committees for DMA comprehensive exams, and advising DMA theses. An ability to teach a variety of courses in music between 1500 and 1750 is highly desirable.

The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by June 2025.
