I'm new here (literally made an account because of this request, and I foresee having many others like it--but I'm happy to be here after being a long time lurker :) ) so I hope it's ok to write questions such as this. But had a question about if anyone would happen to know where I could access a comprehensive list of Carlo Rossini's polyphony pieces?
I was specifically looking for sheet music of his Praeparate Corda Vestra, which I have heard recorded from the Benedictines of Mary but have had no luck finding any actual sheet music (only a reference in the table of contents of the November 1932 Catholic Choirmaster publication). I also am just generally interested in his style after also really enjoying his arrangements of Creator Alme Siderum and Jesu Dulcis Memoria. My choir is planning an Advent service and would really be grateful if we could find a copy of Praeparate Corda Vestra.
I seem to recall Rossini edited the St Gregory Hymnal (or similar). Might it be here that the pieces you mentioned are published?
Actually… I may be recalling incorrectly. I think Nicola Montini edited the St Gregory Hymnal… but seem to recall Rossini editing more than the psalm-toned propers book. Look for books edited by him on Worldcat.
That link may be broken because I still can't figure them out on this site, but ccwatershed has a PDF of Rossini's Canticum Novum. Many of the pieces are easy and quick to learn, especially for small-ish choirs.
Nicola A. Montani was the editor of the St Gregory Hymnal and Catholic Choirbook. Carlo Rossini edited the Parochial Hymnal (1936) and the Exultate Deum Hymnal (1941) . Here i are links from the Corpus Christi Watershed website:
A TTBB/SSAA setting of Praeparáte corda vestra is No. 8 in Rev. Rossini's 1940 collection Jubilemus Deo. He has a different composition for 3 equal voices, No. 36 in his 1958 collection Cantate Domino.
