The beautifully preserved historic downtown of Cedarburg Wisconsin is located only 20 miles north of Milwaukee and is much beloved by visitors and residents alike. With a campus that includes an historic (150+ years) church nestled in downtown Cedarburg, and a larger brick church just outside of downtown, St. Francis Borgia is a young and reverent parish with a thriving Catholic school. In the last five years, we have made a significant shift to include not only traditional hymnody, but also sung Ordinaries and Propers in both Latin and English, and have promoted a growing choral program. Our new Director of Sacred Music will build on the established foundation and continue to expand the parish and the school’s repertoire of the musical heritage of the Catholic Church including Gregorian chant, polyphony, and sacred choral works. The successful candidate must have strong choral conducting skills, and be an experienced liturgical organist.
We currently utilize vernacular propers with Psalms for Offertory and Communion at three of our four weekend Masses. Our other weekend Mass is offered ad orientem with incense, vernacular offertory chant, Gregorian Introit and Communion with accompanying Psalms, and Gregorian chant ordinary. The Lord has been working in beautiful ways at St. Francis Borgia and we are looking forward seeing more of His plan unfold for us.
This seems like a really cool place. I was always pretty impressed with its apparently vibrant spiritual life, generous confession times, and its musical offerings when I was a student in Milwaukee.
