Dos anybody happen to recognize the strings piece at the beginning of this video? This is our parish feast day mass on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day. The piece sounds very celtic to me. Thanks!
Is it this? https://tunearch.org/wiki/Annotation:Maids_of_Mourne_Shore_(The) EDIT - sorry, the forum software doesn't like the brackets, but if you enter "Maids_of_Mourne_Shore_(The)" into the search box on this website it will take you there.
I think it’s a variant of the tune known as “Irish Lamentation,” which was used throughout the British isles. I know it best at an English Country Dance tune, and I recorded it as such back in 2008. You can compare the tunes:
It does seem to be a variation on Irish Lamentation. I only wish I knew the arrangement with violin and harp.
Does anybody have any ideas on this piece? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4EXrrKmFyM it starts at 29:25 in this video. It seems like some kind of arrangement for harp, violin, and flute. I wish there were a way to search Irish/celtic melodies by incipit like there is on hymnary.
