    Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located in downtown Shreveport, Louisiana, is seeking a Part-Time Director of Sacred Music. The Director will serve as organist and choir director, leading a vibrant congregation of worshippers towards holiness through the wealth of beautiful sacred music of the Catholic church. Holy Trinity, built in 1896, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has been consecrated as the Minor Shrine of the Shreveport Martyrs. The church has a rich and venerable history; it is a masterpiece of architectural beauty and acoustical magnificence.

    The Director should be proficient in organ and piano and is responsible for all aspects of the sacred music program, including planning the music for three weekend Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and other liturgical events. The Director should be knowledgeable of Catholic liturgical traditions and understand the General Instruction of the Roman Missal. A master’s degree is preferred but not required. One/two years of related experience expected.

    Other Qualifications
    * Proficiency in sight-reading and improvisation
    * Proficiency in choral conducting; leading choir rehearsals
    * Ability to sing and teach Gregorian chant (Latin/English)
    * Commitment to required rehearsal preparation and rehearsal time of music selections
    * Ability to schedule and rehearse cantors for weekend Masses; instrumentalists on occasion
    * Report directly to Pastor; attend weekly meetings
    * Ability to communicate effectively with Pastor, staff, musicians, and the congregation
