Historic St. Joseph Shrine in Detroit, Michigan, under the care of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest since October 2016, is immediately seeking a Director of Music/Principal Organist.

Principal duties: On a weekly basis, playing the organ for two Sunday Masses (Low and High Mass) and special Feast Days; directing the parish choir for Wednesday evening rehearsals and for select Sunday & Feast Day Masses from September to June; directing the parish chant schola in place of the regular director, when called up and needed; typing and submitting, to have copied for the benefit of the congregation, a weekly Mass addendum sheet containing the liturgical music selections. Desired skills: well acquainted with the Traditional Latin Mass rubrics especially concerning music; familiar with and able to play the classical organ repertoire for all Masses, special Liturgies, and to accompany the choir; able to conduct the choir and instrumentalists for all choral Masses, including for two to three orchestral Masses per year; familiar with and able to conduct Gregorian chant, when called upon.

Benefits include an excellent and well-maintained tracker organ in outstanding acoustical worship space, and a dedicated parish choir with experience singing an expansive repertoire of sacred music, including masses composed by Palestrina, Victoria, Bach, Haydn, and Mozart.
