I attended a mass yesterday at St Teresa's Church in a suburb of Houston. The mass was NO completely in Latin - only the readings (all three were sung), the marriage rite and the homily were in English. The choir sang the propers from the GR. Only one curiosity: the pastor-celebrant was wearing a white biretta. I have never encountered such. Has anyone here, and what is the significance of it?
The Norbertines (Premonstratensians) wear them. The current bulletin of the parish in question mentions a visiting OMI priest. Might it have been he? Google is turning up more photos of OMIs in white cassocks than black.
I might add that St Teresa's is home to one of only four Aeloian-Skinners in the Houston area - the others being Christ Church Cathedral First Methodist First Presbyterian and the Synagogue across the street from Rice University.
