Holy Redeemer Catholic Church is searching for a full-time Director of Music. A thorough knowledge of the Catholic liturgy, a Bachelor’s degree in music at minimum, and previous experience are necessary. Strong organ, piano, and conducting skills are required. The Director of Music is responsible for the planning, directing, and accompanying of all weekend liturgies (Saturday 5:00pm; Sunday 8:00am, 10:00am, and 12:00pm), as well as holy days, funerals, weddings, and other special liturgies throughout the year. He or she is also responsible for the Holy Redeemer Choir (20- member volunteer choir with professional section leaders, one rehearsal and one Mass per week from late Summer through the Feast of Corpus Christi in June), the Holy Redeemer Vigil Choir (5-member ensemble, 5:00 Vigil Mass weekly year-round), the Holy Redeemer Schola (ad-hoc ensemble, early music, seasonally and on select holy days), and the Holy Redeemer Children’s Choir (grades 4-8, during the academic year).
The Director of Music functions as an integral member of the parish staff, and is responsible for maintaining the music library and music budget, and for recruiting and training cantors, choir section leaders, substitute musicians, and instrumentalists whenever necessary. Holy Redeemer has a 2 manual, 17-rank Möller pipe organ which was renovated in 2015. Salary is based on education and experience, and a full benefits package is available. Position will begin August 7, 2023.
