Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, Arizona is seeking an energetic and talented professional for its Director of Sacred Music. Position is full-time, Salaried with benefits.

Applicants must be results driven, have strong knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy, and aninformed understanding of sacred music and Gregorian chant. Both English/Spanish language is preferred but not essential. Applicants should demonstrate excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others. Extensive knowledge and proficiency in accompaniment and vocal/choral conducting. Ability to teach group vocal techniques for adults and children in choral conducting setting. Active, practicing Catholic who is in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.

Minimum 5-7 years of experience working with Roman Catholic liturgies, choirs and as an accompanist. Should have knowledge and experience in forming children’s choirs. Music degree preferred; proficiency with organ required. The ideal candidate should possess confident leadership skills and a spirit of collaboration.

Position reports to Pastor and is responsible forplanning and playing music for currently four weekend masses, monthly evening votive mass, holy days, funerals, weddings, special prayer services, parish events, and occasional concert. Position responsible for attracting volunteer singers, and scheduling cantors. Additional tasks agreed upon.

Office schedule to be determined with pastor. Individual must possess strong desire to work with pastor in providing music to compliment and enrich the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in itsprayerfulness, transcendence, and beauty.
