    Description:
    St. Lambert Church, a worship center of Ss. Peter & Lambert Parish in Skokie, seeks a qualified part-time Music Director/Organist, beginning as soon as possible. Our parish is a vibrant community in the Village of Skokie, serving a multi-ethnic population where English is the language of worship. The Music Director/Organist works collaboratively with the Pastor and Music Director of St. Peter Church in planning and implementing the music and liturgies at St. Lambert Church, incorporating the rich tradition and range of sacred music, along with nurturing of the choir.

    Responsibilities:

    - Accompany three Sunday liturgies (8AM, 10AM, 12PM)

    - Opportunities to accompany Funerals, Weddings, and Quinceaneras, which are all compensated additionally to what is offered for this position.

    - Accompany liturgies for major Holy Days, Christmas, Holy Week, and holy days of obligation, etc.

    - Work with and help schedule professional cantor(s) for liturgies with music.

    - Rehearsal with cantor and choir prior to Sunday liturgies, funerals, and weddings as required.

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    - Coordinate with couples to plan music for weddings (~15 per year).

    - Coordinate with families to plan funerals and memorial Masses.

    Requirements:
    Qualifications Include:

    - Excellent organ skills (hymnody, repertoire, and improvisation)

    - Experience in playing organ and singing in English for Mass while playing.

    - Experience in choral conducting and vocal skills.

    - Experience with building up and managing church choirs.

    - Experience with traditional Catholic music (Gregorian chant, Latin and English chant).

    - Degree in music or equivalent experience.

    - Practicing Catholic.

    - Good understanding of Catholic liturgical practice, liturgical music, Catholic values and teaching.

    - Exhibits flexibility with sacred musical genres and traditions.

    - Pays attention to detail.

    - Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.

    This is my home parish, and the music generally includes chant-based Mass settings (English and Latin) and traditional hymnody.
