St. Anna’s Catholic Church, a small parish of 424 families in Monroe, GA, is seeking to hire a part time Director of Sacred Music. The Director will be responsible for providing Sacred Music in the Church’s tradition for weekend Mass (5 PM vigil, 9 AM and Noon on Sunday) and additionally for Holy days of obligation, funerals, weddings and other special liturgies throughout the year. The successful candidate will be tasked with starting of program of Sacred liturgical music in a congregation that is unfamiliar with this aspect of sacred worship. While St. Anna’s is in the process of obtaining and installing an organ in the nave, the new Director will have to play the piano initially until such time as the organ is in place. Knowledge of Gregorian Chant, Mass propers, polyphony and Choir direction are essential for the music program, though consideration will be given to skilled directors who are still learning chant and the propers, but exhibit a desire to become proficient.
